Quick Answer: Where Do I Rank in the AI Study of the Best SEO Experts in the Philippines?
In a new 105-answer study by Christopher Jan Benitez, I was named in 7 of 15 Google AI Overviews, tied for first place. My website, alvinjohnferias.com, was also the most-cited single domain in Google’s AI Overviews for these searches, with 15 citations. Across AI chatbots (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude), I ranked 8th, named in 14 of 72 answers. My biggest gap is ChatGPT, and below I share how I’m working on it.
When someone asks an AI tool “Who is the best SEO expert in the Philippines?”, only a handful of names come back. Being one of them is now a real source of leads, so I was happy to see this study test exactly that question.
Christopher Jan Benitez, an AI SEO specialist based in the Philippines, published Who AI Recommends as the Best SEO Expert in the Philippines: A 105-Answer Study. Here is what it found, where I landed, and what I’m doing next. If you’re a business owner, the same lessons apply to how AI recommends your business.
How the Study Worked
The study did not use opinions or a paid list. It recorded what AI tools actually say:
- 72 chatbot answers: six prompts, each run three times on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude with web search turned on.
- 15 Google AI Overview answers for “SEO expert” and “SEO specialist” searches.
- Only named individuals counted, not agencies. More than 760 source links were logged.
- It is a one-week snapshot, so results can shift over time.
My Results at a Glance
| AI source | How often I was named | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Google AI Overviews | 7 of 15 (tied #1) | My strongest channel, tied with Cyrel Nicolas |
| Gemini | 6 of 18 | Solid, and my site is a top-3 cited domain |
| Claude | 5 of 18 | Solid, and my site is a top-3 cited domain |
| Perplexity | 3 of 18 | Room to grow |
| ChatGPT | 0 of 18 | My biggest gap |
| All chatbots combined | 14 of 72 (19%, #8) | On the list, with clear next steps |
| “Hire an SEO” prompt | 5 of 12 | Strong for people ready to hire |
The result I’m proudest of is the citation data. alvinjohnferias.com was the most-cited single domain in Google’s AI Overviews for these searches. That means Google’s AI didn’t just name me; it used my content as a source to answer the question.
I’m also in good company. Glen Dimaandal, Jin Grey and Jason Acidre led the chatbot rankings, followed by Sean Si, Venchito Tampon, Yesh Quijano and Cyrel Nicolas. Many of them helped build the Philippine SEO industry, and congratulations to everyone named.
Why Google’s AI Cites My Website
The study links much of my citation strength to my roundups of Filipino SEO experts. Beyond that, these are the things I’ve built into my site on purpose:
- Clear role and location everywhere. My page titles say “SEO Specialist Philippines,” so search engines and AI tools know exactly who I am and where I work.
- Pages built around real searches. I have dedicated pages for SEO specialist, hiring an SEO specialist and SEO consulting, each answering what people actually ask.
- Answer-first writing. My posts open with a Quick Answer that AI tools can lift directly.
- Strong Google SEO. Google’s AI Overviews pull from pages that already rank well, and I’ve ranked for core terms like “SEO Expert Philippines”.
How I’m Working to Improve My AI Visibility
An honest look at the data shows where to focus. Here is my plan, and you can use the same steps for your own business:
1. Close the ChatGPT gap
Being named in zero ChatGPT answers tells me my Google strength isn’t carrying over. ChatGPT’s web search doesn’t rely only on Google, so I’m checking that my key pages are well indexed in Bing through Bing Webmaster Tools. I’m also making sure ChatGPT’s crawlers aren’t blocked anywhere on my site.
2. Earn mentions on other people’s sites
The study points out that a roundup written by someone who also appears in it may carry less weight with some AI engines. That’s fair. My focus now is getting featured by independent sources: podcasts, industry publications, client case studies and expert roundups written by others.
3. Keep my profile consistent across platforms
AI tools cross-check who you are. I’m aligning my bio, title and location on LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Upwork and Clutch so every profile tells the same story: an SEO specialist in the Philippines with 15+ years of experience.
4. Publish more first-hand proof
Case studies with real results, original research, and my work as a DICT resource speaker and SPARK trainer are things no one else can copy. More of that content gives AI tools more reasons to trust and cite me.
5. Track it every month
I’ll keep running the same prompts in each AI tool and logging who gets named. Studies like this one are snapshots; steady tracking shows the real trend.
What This Means for Your Business
The same thing that happened in this study is happening in your industry. Customers ask AI tools for the best dentist, contractor, resort or accountant near them, and only a few businesses get named. The good news is that AI visibility can be measured and improved with the same steps above.
